History:

Sultampur is a district in Uttar Pradesh, India. By the time of AiniAkbari, the area currently covered by the Sultampur district was all divided into Awad, Lucknow and Jaunpur sarkers in Suva, Awad, and Manikpur sarkers in Suva, Arahabad. Sultampur himself was one of the Mahal or Parganas who formed the Awad Sarkar. It corresponded to the later Milan Pargana, with the exception of the southern part, which was part of Katoto Mahal in Manikpur during the Akbar era. It may also contain some of the pargana after Baraunsa, also known as Sultanpur Baraunsa.
