History:
District Farrukhabad is a district of Uttar Pradesh in northern India. The city of Fategal is the headquarters of the district. The district is part of the Kanpur District. Farrukhabad was founded in 1714 by the independent local governor of the Mughal Empire, Muḥammad Khan Bangash. Fatehgarh was also founded around 1714 when the fort was built. The massacre took place there during the Indian Rebellion of 1857-58. This district previously included today's Kannauji district. It was split into two separate districts on September 18, 1997. Farrukhabad is a major road and rail hub, manufacturing center and agricultural market.
