History:
Mathura is a city in Uttar Pradesh, India. Mathura has an ancient history and is believed to be the home and birthplace of Lord Krishna, born in the Yadava dynasty. According to the Indian Archaeological Survey of the Matura Museum, the city is mentioned in Ramayana, the oldest Indian epic. Later, the place became known as Maduvan, then Madupla, and later Matura because of the dense forest. Mathura has been selected as one of the historic cities of the Government of India's Heritage City Development and Enhancement Yojana Program.
