History:
Chandauli district was founded in 1997. The districts are on the eastern and southern sides of the sacred Ganges. The district is named after its headquarters in Tasir. The area covered by today's district was part of the ancient Kingdom of Kashi. As part of the Kingdom of Kashi, the history of the Chandauli district is the same as the history of the Kingdom of Kashi and the Varanasi district.
