History:
District Kanpur was divided into two districts, Kanpur Nagar and Kanpur Dehat, in 1977. The two met again in 1979 and separated again in 1981. The Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to rename the Kampur Dehat district to the Rama Bainagar district on July 1, 2010. It was returned to Kanpur Dehat in July 2012. The district is well connected to the railway network. There are three tracks running in the Kampur Dehat district. The railroad connecting Delhi and Howra, which is part of the North Central Zone of the Indian Railways, runs through the center of the district. This railway line is broad gauge and fully electrified.
