About Kannauj

History:

Kannauj is one of the oldest places in India with rich archaeological and cultural heritage. The old name for this place was Kanya kubja, but later the name of Kanya kubja was changed to the name of the current district, Kannauj. Kannauj is a famous and important city of the 2nd century, and it is also confirmed by the geographer Ptolemy (c. 140 AD) mentioning it by the name of Cangola or Kanogiza. The Farrukhabad district today shared the achievements of the golden age of the Gupta dynasty and contributed significantly to their peace and prosperity. Kannauj was part of the Gupta dynasty. 

Famous for

Kannauj is famous for its scented distillation. Known as the perfume capital of India, it is famous for its traditional kannauj perfumes.
