History:

Deoria is a city in Uttar Pradesh, India. It is one of the five Tehsil in the Deoria district. Deoria is 45 km east of Gorakhpur. The Deoria district was born on March 16, 1946 and was separated from the Gorakupur district. The name Deoria is believed to be derived from Devalanya or perhaps Deoria. The district was named "Deoria" because it is headquartered in Deoria. The term deolia generally means where the temple is located. The area now known as the Deoria district was once part of the country of Kosara.
