Basti is a town, parish council, and administrative district of the Basti district in Uttar Pradesh, India. The Basti district is part of the Basti district. It is 202 km east of the capital of Lucknow. Basti was originally known as Weishishti.  The name Vasishtha comes from the fact that this area was the ashram of the ancient Rishi (sage) Vasishtha. Rama with his younger brother Laxmana was here with Rishi Vasista for a while.
Located in the historic area of Bundelkhand, the Banda is famous for its Shajar stones used to make jewelery and the historical and architecturally important places of Khajuraho and Karinjar. Khajuraho is a World Heritage Site famous for its intricately carved temples.
